Matthew, started his martial arts training in 1987 under Grandmaster “Soke” Michael Kinney 10th Degree Black Belt in the styles of Tang Soo Do, Ju-Jitsu, and Aikido, received his black belt in 1996 and became a Certified Black Belt Instructor.  Later on he became a Head Instructor over 150 students at 5 different locations.  Matthew was respected as a leader to hundreds of students.

 

In 1997, Matthew having passed all personal requirements set before him by “Soke” Kinney, received his 2nd Dan Black Belt.  In 1998, unbeknownst to him, having been placed in charge of a belt rank exam was awarded with his 3rd Dan Black Belt.

 

In 2005, after accomplishing his set requirements he tested for his 4th Dan Black Belt (Yondan Rank) in Tang Soo Do, Ju-Jitsu, and Aikido.  In 2006, Matthew was Certified by the Eastern USA International Martial Arts Association, Inc., for his Fourth Yondan Rank.  He also received the honor of being inducted in the EUSA International Black Belt Hall of Fame “Special Recognition” for authoring his published martial arts training book, The Art of Self-Defense: The Comprehensive Martial Art Fitness Guide.

 

In the Fall of 2006, Matthew and his wife opened up a school in Billings, MT starting at a recreational center.  In the Spring 2007 they decided to open their own studio location in Billings, MT.

 

In 2007, Matthew tested under Soke Clement G. Riedner for his 1st Degree Black Belt in Ju-Jitsu - Open Division.

 

From 2007 to 2014, Matthew has been inducted in the in the EUSA International Black Belt Hall of Fame as; Instructor of the Year, Pinnacle Award of Success, Man of the Year, and Outstanding Contribution To The Martial Arts.

 

In 2011, Matthew tested for his 5th Dan Black Belt in Korean Tang Soo Do, Ju-Jitsu, and Aikido through “Soke” Michael Kinney, his rank was Internationally Certified and he received the title of “Master”, through the EUSA International Black Belt Hall of Fame.

 

In 2014, Matthew and Lori had completed their new children’s book series titled, “What Would JeeMin Do.” Now available.
